Introduction of RUP




The acronym RUP stands for “Rural Uplift Program”. It is a social welfare organization, which has come into existence in December 1997, Originally; it was small village society Mulki Foundation in District Battagram, organized by a group of young people mostly Social worker, teachers and others experts. This group used to donate a small amount from their pocket money for the welfare of poor community. Small medical camps were arranged for providing free check up & medicine to the deserving members of the deprived community with their meager amount.  


Besides this, financial assistance of farmers, Widows and Destitute for purchasing Cattle, Seeds, Fertilizers and other necessities were also included in welfare activities of the groups. The group was running several societies of the poor in rural areas of District Battagram. Numerous poor families have been self-employed by the group in this way.

In Battagram harsh winter weather conditions experienced in this mountainous area have placed the surviving population under additional stress with immediate relief needs of food, shelter, heating and sanitation being supported by a large number of national and international agencies and NGOs. In addition to the broader humanitarian impact, the earthquake has had a severe impact on the region’s institutional capacity through loss of life and physical infrastructure.
